Conservative watchdog group Judicial Watch Inc. on Wednesday sued the
Internal Revenue Service in D.C. federal court, claiming the agency
won’t respond to its Freedom of Information Act request for documents
regarding the IRS’ alleged monitoring of religious and conservative
groups.
Judicial Watch says that after it sent an FOIA request in
August , the IRS unilaterally decided to extend its response date by
over 30 days, from Sept. 22 as promised to Oct. 31 and the organization
says it’s still waiting to hear from the IRS.
